June Events in the Lowcountry

◂ Back to Posts

Summer is arriving in Charleston and locals are excited to spend time on our beautiful beaches, boat days on the water and also enjoy events in the Lowcountry. Follow our guide to explore some of our favorite events happening in June.

Spoleto Festival USA | May 27th – June 12th. For several days and nights, Spoleto fills Charleston with renowned artists and emerging performers in disciplines such as opera, theater, dance and a wide range of music. This highly anticipated event runs for more than two weeks each year and was brought to the area as an American counterpart to the annual Festival of Two Worlds in Spoleto, Italy. The founder searched for a city that would provide the charm of Spoleto as well as its wealth of theaters, churches and other performance spaces and selected Charleston as the ideal location. First Friday Artwalks | Starting June 3rd. The popular downtown Charleston Artwalks are back from 5-8 pm on the first Friday of the month. This event supports the recognition of Charleston’s status as a world Art Destination. Local galleries showcase local, regional and national artists’ work in a variety of styles and media including realism, contemporary, abstract, landscape and Lowcountry in original paintings, jewelry, photography and sculpture.
