William Means Guide to Summer Farmers Markets

One of the best things about the summer season is the abundance of fresh local produce available. There are numerous farmers markets all around the Lowcountry, where you can browse aisles of local produce, handcrafted goods, artwork, packaged homemade snacks, and so much more. Try a new farmers market this summer and enjoy the best of Charleston’s local goods.

Charleston Farmers Market | Saturdays, 8am-2pm | Through November 30th

Ideally located in Marion Square of downtown Charleston, this is the Lowcountry’s longest-running farmers market. With more than 100 vendors, it’s also the largest. Browse through aisles of fresh produce from local farms and handcrafted jewelry and home goods while enjoying concessions from food vendors.

Sunday Brunch Farmers Market | Sundays, 11am-3pm | Year Round

Located behind the Pour House in West Ashley (1977 Maybank Highway), this year-round farmers market highlights small producers and beginning businesses who source locally. From handcrafted clothing to artisan cheese to natural herbal medicines, there are dozens of local items to enjoy.

Johns Island Farmers Market | Saturdays, 9:30am-1:30pm | Year Round

Featuring goods from 16 local farms as well as baked goods, home decor, and apparel, the Johns Island Farmers Market is a privately owned LLC that was created to encourage the passions and skills of local farmers, artisans and entrepreneurs. They are open every Saturday on the campus of Charleston Collegiate School.

Mount Pleasant Farmers Market | Tuesdays, 3:30pm-7pm | Through September 30th

Head over to Moultrie Middle School in Mount Pleasant and enjoy the vibrant array of locally grown, SC certified produce along with local seafood, baked and canned goods, and locally produced snacks and meals.

Folly Beach Farmers Market | Mondays, 4pm-8pm | Year Round

Located at Folly River Park, the Folly Beach Farmer’s Market offers an eclectic mix of Gullah-Geechee businesses, crafts, and workshops in this beloved laid-back island community.

North Charleston Farmers Market | Thursdays, 3pm-7pm | Through October 31st

Live music, activities for kids, and even a free yoga class are offered at the North Charleston Farmers Market. You can also peruse locally grown produce, arts and crafts vendors, and specialty foods and food trucks all at the Felix C Davis Community Center.
