William Means Guide to Isle of Palms

◂ Back to Posts

The Isle of Palms is a barrier island on the South Carolina coast and only 12 miles from downtown Charleston. This stand-out community has a top rated resort, world class golf and miles of oceanfront living. Learn why we can’t get enough of the island lifestyle and learn more about the area in the William Means Guide to Isle of Palms.

Breathtaking. As you drive, bike or run across the Isle of Palms Connector, you’re immediately captivated by the smell of the salt marsh and the views of the Atlantic Ocean. It’s almost as if you can see the full 7-mile island as you approach the peak of the bridge.

Resort Living. Wild Dunes occupies 1,500 acres on the northern end of the island. The luxurious resort has two 18-hole Tom Fazio golf courses, 17 Har-Tru tennis courts, numerous pools and a pavilion overlooking the beach and Atlantic Ocean.

Relaxing. Enjoy the beautiful, wide, sandy beaches or ride your bike along the many paths throughout the island. The only item on your agenda is to relax.

Dining. Pick a restaurant or bar with an ocean view and live music for a post-swim dinner. Or take in the marsh views at the elegant Morgan Creek Grill or try The Boathouse’s fresh, local seafood.

Shopping.  Ocean Boulevard is lined with restaurants, gift shops and stores with beach supplies. You can also shop at the grocery store on the island for everyday necessities.

Sightseeing. The beach is the main attraction at Isle of Palms. To better explore the marsh and waterways, charter a fishing boat, go on a watersport adventure or boat to Capers Island for a wildlife tour.

Homes. Isle of Palms has grand oceanfront homes mixed with classic beach bungalows where you can leave the hustle and bustle behind.
