There is so much to love about Charleston from the culinary scene to beautiful beaches to the rich history. Keep reading to discover what Charleston locals love the most about their neighborhoods.

Beautiful Green Spaces. Hampton Park Terrace and Wagener Terrace enjoy close proximity to sprawling Hampton Park, the largest park on the Charleston peninsula. With fountains, extensive floral displays and walking and biking trails, the park is enjoyed by many for recreational activities, dog-walking, and even weddings and reunions.

Rich History. Charleston’s Historic District offers some of America’s best preserved pre-revolutionary homes, each with a unique story. South of Broad in particular is home to expansive historic mansions and charming single-style homes. Step back in time by strolling down the quiet tree-lined streets or signing up for a historic walking tour or carriage ride.

Culinary Scene. Charleston is famous for its myriad of excellent dining options, from fresh local seafood to award-winning barbecue to Southern cuisine. From Poe’s Tavern on Sullivan’s Island to S.N.O.B. downtown to Page’s Okra in Mount Pleasant, the opportunities are limitless.

Recreational Opportunities. The Lowcountry offers beautiful weather year-round, and locals spend a lot of time outdoors walking their dogs, enjoying activities with family or biking and jogging. The West Ashley Greenway is 7.8 miles long and is utilized by hundreds of people every day. James Island County Park, one of the largest parks in the area, offers paved trails, a dog park, disc golf course, splash park and more.

Pristine Beaches. Sullivan’s Island, Isle of Palms and Folly Beach offer stunning beaches that attract not only locals, but visitors from around the country. People can’t get enough of the rolling waves, sea breezes and stunning sunrises and sunsets.

Friendly Neighbors. Southern hospitality abounds in the Lowcountry, and locals truly enjoy getting to know their neighbors. From enjoying a glass of wine on the front porch to play dates at the park with the kids, you won’t find friendlier neighbors than those right here in Charleston.

Water Views. Away from the hustle of the city, Wadmalaw Island, Johns Island and Kiawah Island offer stunning panoramic views of marshes, creeks and the open ocean. The countryside is teeming with wildlife, and locals enjoy the peaceful view from private docks, screened porches and boats.
