Ah, the holidays – a time for reflection, for giving, for enjoying the company of loved ones, and for celebrating with food and drink. Most of us experience an increased craving for sweets this time of year as holiday treats make their way into the displays of bakeries and shops (and onto our Instagram feeds). We’ve rounded up our favorite local spots to satisfy your holiday sweet tooth – try a few treats yourself, or give them as gifts this holiday season.

BAKEHOUSE CHARLESTON – Located in downtown Charleston, this bakery offers a variety of pastries and desserts as well as custom-roasted coffee.

KAMINSKY’S – This East Bay Street coffee shop serves house-baked pastries is known for their dessert martinis.

SUGAR BAKESHOP – This playful bakery on Cannon Street whips up a selection of desserts from cupcakes to fruit tarts.

LUCKHAUS & BRUBAKER – This James Island sweets & treats pastry shop is famous for its authentic macaroons.

SAFFRON RESTAURANT & BAKERY – This East Bay Street bakery offers a global foods market and cafe along with specialty pastries and breads.

WILDFLOUR PASTRY – This quaint bakery offers a variety of sweet and savory baked goods and legendary sticky buns and has locations in Downtown and West Ashley.

BAKIES – Brownies, cookies, and cakes, oh my! Bakies in Mount Pleasant also offers baking classes for a fun pre-holiday activity.

BYRD’S FAMOUS COOKIES – Located on Market Street, Byrd’s offers dozens of delectable flavors of their famous cookies (try a few at their Cookie Bar).

CARMELLA’S – This dessert cafe on East Bay Street specializes in gourmet Italian desserts and hand-crafted cocktails.

NORMANDY FARMS BAKERY – Enjoy a variety of breakfast and lunch sandwiches and artisan pastries at this Broad Street staple.
