Holiday Events in the Lowcountry

It’s beginning to look and feel a lot like Christmas, which means there are an abundance of festive events to enjoy. We’ve rounded up our favorite events to attend in and around Charleston. Happy holidays to all!

Christmas in Charleston. Stroll beautiful downtown Charleston to get in the holiday spirit. This tour will take you around College of Charleston, Colonial Lake, South of Broad and Charleston Place. This event takes place on Wednesday December 13th at 5:30pm. Learn more.

Photos with Santa Claus. Embrace the spirit of the holiday season with a professional photo with Santa Claus at the North Pole in Mount Pleasant’s Town Centre Friday December 15th-Sunday December 17th at 12pm. Each child will receive a free chocolate pop from sweet Julep’s Candy & Gifts. Learn more.

Old Village Holiday Street Fest. Head to Old Village this Saturday December 16th from 2-8pm for the annual Holiday Street Fest along Pitt Street. Details.

Vienna Light Orchestra Christmas Concert. Experience an orchestral concert by Vienna Light Orchestra at South Carolina Society Hall in downtown Charleston on Saturday December 16th from 6-7pm. Get tickets.

Daniel Island Christmas Decoration Cruise. Put on your best holiday sweater to take a bike cruise around Daniel Island and check out the holiday lights and decorations. It is encouraged to put lights and festive decorations on your bike. This event will be held on Sunday, December 17th from 3:30-5:30pm. Details, here.

The Charleston Caroling Company at the Holiday Festival of Lights. The Charleston Caroling Company is a strolling acapella quartet, dressed in Victorian-era costumes, singing classic Christmas carols at the Holiday Festival of Lights at James Island County Park. This event is held on December 13th from 6-10pm. Learn more.

Holiday Festival of Lights. Enjoy the Holy City at Christmastime by taking a three mile driving tour featuring twinkling lights. Guests can also park the car and explore the grounds at Santa’s Village and Winter Wonderland, featuring delicious treats, gift shops, visits with Santa and more. This event is held through the month of December from 5:30-10pm. More Details.

Holiday Market in Marion Square. Head to Marion Square in downtown Charleston from December 2nd through December 16th to browse a wide assortment of art, crafts and holiday gift items. This event is held on Saturdays and Sundays from 9am-3pm. Details.

Holidays on Hutson. Immerse yourself in the magic of the holiday season as Holy City Hospitality presents its first ever Holidays on Hutson, a celebration for all ages. Beginning December 1st through the end of the month, Hutson Alley will deck the halls with lights, ornaments and festive trees. Santa will make appearances on the 12th, 14th and 20th. There will also be vendors and crafts several nights. Learn more.

Holiday Workshop. Join the Charleston Museum on December 20th from 2-4pm for their annual holiday workshop. Children can enjoy hot chocolate and cookies while creating ornaments and decorations to take home or use to decorate the Little Heyward House in Kidstory. Museum Workshops offer kids a chance to get hands-on with history. Learn more.

The Charleston Christmas Special. Charleston’s favorite holiday show is back for ten performances in December, running from December 14th to December 23rd at the Charleston Music Hall. Featuring a cast of twenty-eight professional singers, dancers and musicians, this is an all-new show featuring holiday classics, new songs, comedy skits and more. Get tickets

A Christmas Carol. Join Dock Street Theatre for their spectacular original adaptation of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol”. This musical features classic carols and brings the heartfelt wonder of the Christmas season magically alive once more. This event is held through November 29th to December 22nd. Get tickets.

The Holidays at The Charleston Place. Festive moments await at The Charleston Place with Santa himself, wonderful decor, Nutcracker tea and a nightly snowfall. This event is held daily from 9am-8pm. Learn more.

Breakfast with Santa. Start Christmas Eve with a little magic by enjoying the second annual breakfast with Santa. There will be a buffet of sweet and savory breakfast offerings in the Crown Ballroom of Hotel Bennett. Event details.
