Dressing Room Design Tips

◂ Back to Posts

The right dressing room design can make every day feel like a special occasion. Inspired by Charleston Fashion Week (March 13-17) we have rounded up the best tips for creating the dressing room of your dreams that is both beautiful and functional.

Make It Practical. A dressing room should be stylish and functional. Think about its everyday use: will you be sharing it with a partner, or also using it as a makeup room? Answering these types of questions will help you design the perfect space for your lifestyle.

Choose a Color Palette. Choosing lighter neutral colors for walls and floors will help maximize the light in the space, or add wallpaper like in the photo above for a different look. Adding pops of color in the form of an armchair, dressing table, or throw pillows will brighten the space.

Add Lighting. Lighting is one of the most important features of a dressing room. Dressing rooms should be well-lit spaces, so consider a combination of recessed lighting and a few fun pieces like a chandelier or tall floor lamp.

Stylish Storage. While built-ins are ideal as they take up the least amount of space, a wardrobe or chest of drawers can add a unique style element to any dressing room. If the space allows, a center island can provide a valuable table top space and storage underneath.

Mirrors are Essential. Every dressing room needs at least a full length mirror, and additional mirrors can add drama and style. Positioning your mirrors on different walls can help maximize the light in your space.
