Historic Dock Street Theatre
Dock Street Theatre will reopen in May 2010, just in time for Spoleto! This historic theatre, better know as the first building designed for theatrical use in the Americas, opened in 1736 with the play “The Recruiting Officer”.
“Flora,” the first opera ever performed in the American Colonies, will be the first performance in ther newly restored theatre. You can enjoy this event and many others at Dock Street during Spoleto, May 28th-June 13. Learn more about the events coming to the Charleston on Spoleto’s website.
