Dine Al Fresco In Charleston

◂ Back to Posts

The Charleston summer is in full swing and what better time to dine al fresco with family and friends? We’re rounding up some of our favorite downtown locales with outdoor seating.

If you’re in the mood for pizza, look no further than Monza. Situated on upper King Street, their pizza is baked in a wood fired oven at 1000 degrees resulting in a thin crispy crust, topped with fiore di latte mozzarella and fresh local and regional ingredients. The quaint, outdoor courtyard is located at the back of the restaurant and is the perfect, shady location to dine in Italian style.

On the upper peninsula is Edmund’s Oast, a hip spot offering New American fare, beer brewed on-site & craft cocktails, plus a stunning patio which is why it makes our list. If you’re looking for a great party venue, the shaded patio outside the kitchen area—Edmund’s Patio—seats 30 guests for a dinner or 60 for a standing, cocktail style reception.

Perfectly located downtown, Poogan’s Smokehouse is an industrial-chic hot spot serving locally sourced, traditional Southern BBQ & stylish cocktails. Their outdoor seating is centrally located amongst the hustle and bustle of East Bay Street and you can get your barbecue fix for lunch, brunch and dinner.

Located in a Charleston single house, Cannonborough’s Hominy Grill feels as though it has been open for generations when in fact this landmark has only been dishing up its simple, clean fare since 1996.  A favorite among tourists and locals alike, if you want a seat on the outdoor patio space be ready to wait your turn…dining is on a first come, first served basis.

82 Queen boasts a swanky bar and intimate garden courtyard which help make this refined Southern spot a special occasion favorite nestled in the historic French Quarter. It is one of Charleston’s oldest and most celebrated restaurants with a focus on fresh, local cuisine and gracious hospitality.
