Summertime is nearly upon us, and though the school year is quickly coming to a close there are endless opportunities for children in the Charleston area to continue learning, playing and developing social skills. We’ve created a round-up of a few of Charleston’s summer camps for children of all ages to enjoy.
Music Camps
Bach to Rock Music Camps | June 10 – August 16
In a camp designed for students at all levels, musicians teach students using a unique method that includes ensemble playing, teamwork and music instruction.
Black Tie Music Academy Camps | June 3 – August 16
Skilled instructors work with children on a variety of instrumental and vocal skills as well as artistic classes, dance and choreography, and group performances.
Math and Science Camps
Summer STEAM Institute | June 17 – August 2
The Summer STEAM Institute provides opportunities for rising K-5th grade students to engage in meaningful experiences that keep them engaged and on track for the next school year.
CREATEng | June 10 – June 27
The Governor’s School for Science & Mathematics hosts a one-of-a-kind engineering and design thinking day camp for rising 8th and 9th graders in which students take on the role of NASA engineers charged with developing a sustainable colony on Mars.
Camp Invention | June 10 – June 21
Camp Invention® is a nationally acclaimed summer program where STEM concepts come to life. Led by local teachers, this program has tapped into kids’ natural curiosity since 1990.
Dance and Performance Camps
Charleston Ballet Academy | July 22 – August 2
From beginners to advanced dancers, children ages 4-14 will enjoy learning techniques, choreography, cross-training, and the history of ballet.
Peace Love Hip Hop | June 10 – August 4
Peace Love Hip Hop offers camps all summer long focused on Hip Hop dance, inclusivity, empowerment, and enjoyable fitness.
Sports Camps
Charleston TaeKwanDo | Varying Dates
Experienced instructors teach kids what they need to know to excel in martial arts school and in the classroom through fun and engaging activities.
Choice Gymnastics | June 10 – August 9
Energetic instructors teach ages 5-14 during structured time, open gym, group activities, crafts, water fun, a movie day at Azalea Theatre and more.
College of Charleston Basketball Camp | June 10 – August 4
CofC’s basketball camp is a time for boys to develop individual skills, make memories and prepare for their upcoming season.
JL Tennis | June 3 – July 19
Children ages 5-14 can hone their tennis skills and enjoy a variety of fun group activities.
