August Events in the Lowcountry

It’s hard to believe that August has arrived! As summer winds down in Charleston, it’s time to make the most of long summer days before the fall season arrives. We’ve rounded up our favorite upcoming August events to attend in the Lowcountry.

First Friday Artwalks. Discover the vibrant art scene of Charleston and enjoy the Charleston Gallery Association’s First Friday Artwalks. This month’s event takes place this Friday August 4th from 5-8pm. To enhance your ArtWalk journey, explore the websites and social media pages of your favorite galleries to curate your own personalized ArtWalk itinerary, mapping out your ideal route. Waterfront Music & Movies. Mount Pleasant residents and visitors can bring blankets and chairs to Waterfront Park and enjoy the sunset while listening to local musicians followed by an outdoor movie with the Ravenel Bridge and Charleston Harbor as the backdrop. This event is held on Fridays in August at 6pm. View the schedule.

Music on the Green. The Music on the Green Concert Series is held on Fridays from 6-9pm all summer long at Freshfields Village on Kiawah Island. These free, family-friendly concerts feature a variety of music from regional bands including Carolina Beach music, Motown, Top 40 and more. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs. Farmers Market at Marion Square. Visit downtown Charleston’s farmers market in Marion Square on Saturdays during the months of April-November from 8-2pm. Enjoy local produce, prepared foods, arts and crafts, live performances and other goods from local vendors. Take a leisurely stroll through downtown Charleston afterwards. View details.

Farmers Market on Isle of Palms. Check out Isle of Palms farmer’s market to enjoy fresh produce, live music and other local goods on Thursday, August 17th from 4-7pm at 24 28th Avenue. Parking is available on site. View the schedule.

Weekend Wine-Down at Deep Water Vineyard. Head out to Wadamalaw Island on Saturdays to wind down with Deep Water Vineyards Weekly Wine-Down. Enjoy a wine tasting, a variety of drinks, food trucks and live music. Dogs and kids are welcome. Learn more.

Dancing on the Cooper. Dance on the Mount Pleasant pier amongst the stars while enjoying the Charleston harbor breeze on Saturday August 19th from 7-10:30pm. Local bands will perform a variety of live music including beach/shag, Cuban salsa, funk/soul, rock, jazz, country, Motown and the greatest hits of the ’80s and ’90s. Get tickets.
