Every week Christie’s International Real Estate produces a newsletter with interesting real estate topics from around the globe. The latest issue had an article titled “Travel the World via the Wonders of Architecture”. As I read it, I was reminded of the privilege we have to live in Charleston, where we can enjoy amazing architecture without needing to travel. In fact, every time I take a walk downtown I witness a new nuance of home or landscape architecture. Many of our listings offer stunning examples of both classic and modern architecture, from historic South of Broad homes to custom-built new construction homes in developing areas of Mount Pleasant.
Another recent article titled “World’s Best-Dressed Restaurants” had me thinking of Charleston’s restaurants with amazing architectural designs. One of my favorites is The Ordinary, located downtown on King Street. The Ordinary was a former bank building and allows you to peer in the bank vault behind the raw bar. Another example is One Broad Street, which opened recently downtown in a beautiful Italian Renaissance Revival style building. The building has survived the bombardment in the civil war requiring an extensive rebuild as well as surviving hurricanes and a major earthquake. We have a unique opportunity in our city to experience these slices of history while enjoying our amazing culinary scene.
Nearly every article I read about Charleston only has great things to say about our city. From its rich history to incredible architecture to award-winning restaurants, it is an amazing place to call home.
