5 Things To Do In Charleston Before Back To School

◂ Back to Posts

Tax free weekend in Charleston has come and gone, making it evident that we have officially entered back to school season. Want to make the most of the last few days of the dog days of summer? Take a peek at our five things to do in Charleston before school is back in session!

Go To The Beach. Although we can pretty much guarantee you’ve spent the majority of the summer relaxing at one of our city’s many beaches, why not spend one last weekend soaking up the rays (with ample sunscreen of course). Or try a beach you haven’t visited in awhile; some of our top picks are Isle of Palms, Sullivan’s and Folly.

Enjoy Second Sunday. For the past few years, Charleston’s Second Sunday event has been a hit for both the locals and visitors. August 13th will be no exception so head on over to King Street between 1-5 PM and leisurely stroll downtown enjoying live music, great shopping and delicious restaurants.

Visit the Farmer’s Market. There are plenty of farmer’s markets throughout the Charleston area, from Mount Pleasant to North Charleston. One of our favorites is in Marion Square as it provides eclectic offerings by artists and local produce to make a fresh farm-to-table meal for the whole family.

Walk The Ravenel Bridge. What better way to exercise and reflect on the past few months than by a walk on the Ravenel Bridge? Start from downtown or the Mt. Pleasant side and see all the way out to Sullivan’s Island and take in the beauty of the Harbor and the historic USS Yorktown.

Read! Did you forget about your summer reading list? Uh oh…Now is the time for speed reading and organizing your school supplies to get ready for a wonderful 2017-2018 school year in the Lowcountry.

Hope you had a happy Summer in Charleston!
