◂ Back to Posts

As one of the most coveted neighborhoods in the Charleston area, I’On offers an abundance of desirable qualities that make this neighborhood the ideal place to call home. This community offers picturesque lakes, walking trails, restaurants and is located just minutes from all that Mount Pleasant and downtown Charleston have to offer. Follow our guide to learn what makes this stunning neighborhood so special.

Neighborhood history. The neighborhood name, I’On, was originated from Jacob Bond, whose family owned the property and who was a hero of the War of 1812. The neighborhood was founded in March 1998 and developed by The I’On Company, which was founded by Vincent, Geoff and Tom Graham and features more than seven hundred households with more than 900 residents. I’On’s homesites are separated into six small “boroughs” with lots to accommodate houses of all sizes.

Luxury homes. I’On was inspired by traditional neighborhoods of the Lowcountry and is known for its southern homes with stunning architecture. Each home is custom built by one of the area’s most innovated builders. You’ll notice that most homes have their own flare, whether it features stunning arches, lake views or charming gardens. I’On homes mimic traditional Charleston single houses and are purposely situated close to each other to invite neighbors to connect on their porches.

The I’On Club. Enjoy neighborhood amenities such as a commercial center, athletic facilities and a sports club. Active residents can spend days at the eight-lane junior olympic community pool or take fitness and tennis classes. There are also six clay tennis courts, perfect for an afternoon tennis game with friends. This community space is welcome to club members of all ages and is sure to keep you busy.

I’On Square. Dine at one of the wonderful restaurants located in I’On square, the perfect place to gather with neighbors for lunch or dinner. Or, enjoy a packed lunch while sitting among Civitas’ oak trees. Stop by one of the neighborhood shops or offices, such as Frank’s Gentlemen Salon and William Means Real Estate.

Neighborhood amenities. I’On offers plenty of space to enjoy the outdoors. Enjoy the perfect Charleston weather on one of the public green spaces, the two-mile Marsh Walk along charming creeks, community docks, the Eastlake Boathouse and Park, Westlake Park, a soccer field and lovely pocket parks. Enjoy fishing at one of the lakes or picturesque canals. The Rookery is a protected bird nesting area with observation stands where you can view hundreds of native birds and wildlife. I’On is also home to the Holy Ascension Orthodox Church and Holy Cross Church.

Superb location. Enjoy living in the perfect location, just minutes from Shem Creek, Sullivan’s Island and boat ramp access. Downtown Charleston is less than ten minutes away, offering the best of both worlds.
