◂ Back to Posts

Harrison Gilchrist spent his youth in the Tidewater area of Virginia, before attending Episcopal High School in Alexandria, VA. Following his time at EHS, Harrison attended the University of Mississippi. While at Ole Miss, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism. After his studies, he relocated to Jackson Hole, WY for 2 years in order to chase new experiences and opportunities. In 2010, Harrison decided to move to Charleston and plant his roots, where his family had done generations before him. He took on a position at Garden & Gun Magazine and worked there for 3 years. After gaining a deep understanding of journalism and publishing, he made the decision to focus on a career in real estate.

In 2013, he earned his license, and has since been working with a multitude of clients on many different projects. While Harrison’s main focus and specialty lie within the realm of residential brokerage, he has gained invaluable experience in commercial brokerage, property management, and development throughout his career.
Harrison has been recognized among the top 10% of sales-producing Realtors in the Charleston area by Charleston Trident Association of Realtors and has been awarded the Realtors of Distinction – Directors Circle honor in the local community.

Harrison is a member of the National Association of Realtors, Charleston Trident Association of Realtors, founding President of the Charleston Ole Miss Alumni Club, and has volunteered with the Green Heart Project. When Harrison isn’t pouring over listings and hunting new properties for his clients, he can be found cruising the local waterways, exploring new restaurants, or working to renovate and rehabilitate homes in the Charleston community.

DO YOU HAVE A REAL ESTATE TRANSACTION THAT YOU FEEL YOU HELPED SAVE AND HOW DID YOU HELP?

Every transaction has moving parts and nuances that provide unique learning opportunities; the ability to carry those lessons from transaction to transaction has helped me see many challenging deals through to closing day. Both buyers and sellers can sometimes be quick to react, and it’s important to encourage them to focus on the big picture. Over the years, clients routinely comment on my patience and outlook. More than once, those qualities have helped save a rocky transaction and serve to develop strong relationships.

FAVORITE RESTAURANT IN CHARLESTON AND WHY?

Charleston has developed such an amazing food and beverage scene over the last decade. I am so fortunate to live in the Riverland Terrace neighborhood on James Island where I can walk to supper at Crust Pizza, a movie at Terrace Theater, or live music over at the Pour House.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART ABOUT CHARLESTON?

Without question, my favorite part of Charleston is the water. Having grown up on the water, living in a place that incorporates it into so many aspects of the community is amazing. Whether you are headed to the beach at Folly, sailing in the harbor, or fishing along the Intracoastal Waterway, there is never a shortage of options to get your feet wet – it is what makes Charleston so special!
