We are pleased to welcome Amy Edmonds Mathisen to the team, bringing a thoughtful, strategic approach shaped by more than 25 years of legal experience and a lifelong connection to Charleston. A native Charlestonian, Amy returned home after earning her undergraduate degree from Wofford College and her law degree from the University of South Carolina, building a distinguished career in law. She represented employers and insurance carriers in complex workers’ compensation cases at both the state and federal levels, handling and negotiating hundreds of matters throughout her career. Her experience later expanded into senior leadership, where she oversaw adjusters and attorneys handling longshore claims and further honed her strengths in problem solving, communication, and negotiation.
Amy’s transition into real estate is a natural extension of her professional background, allowing her to bring heightened insight and advocacy to her clients. Her ability to navigate complex situations with clarity and composure translates seamlessly into real estate, where informed guidance and strong representation make a meaningful difference.
Amy understands that buying or selling a home is one of the most significant financial and personal decisions a client will make. Her approach is grounded in trust, defined by careful attention to detail, and guided by a commitment to achieving the best possible outcome. Clients benefit not only from her legal acumen, but also from her ability to build genuine relationships and provide steady, informed counsel throughout every stage of the process.
Amy and her husband, Trey, a fellow real estate professional with William Means, have called the I’On neighborhood home for close to three decades. Together, they were both born and raised in Charleston and over the years have developed deep roots in the community, where they raised their two children. Amy also remains actively engaged in local organizations and volunteer efforts, reflecting her strong commitment to the people and places that define the Lowcountry.
Amy’s blend of experience, perspective, and local knowledge aligns seamlessly with the values of William Means. We are proud to welcome her to the firm and look forward to the impact she will make on both our clients and our community.

Favorite Restaurant in Charleston and Why?
Vern’s. The escargot and charred sourdough. Need I say more. Absolutely scrumptious. And one can’t forget to end with their granita. A perfect ending to a meal there.
What Do You Think Sets You Apart as An Agent?
A twenty-five year career in the law and corporate management have helped me to gain many valuable skill sets. My prior work experience has taught me how to advocate successfully on behalf of my client, understand legal concepts and contracts, constantly problem solve, negotiate with skill, and effectively communicate to name a few. I know how to build a relationship of trust and confidence with a client through my words and actions because I have done it over and over again throughout my career.
What Is Your Favorite Part About Charleston?
Growing up in Charleston, there are simply too many things about the city I hold near and dear. Our history and heritage, the natural beauty, the architecture, the culture, the FOOD. (How I love the food!) However, I think my most favorite part of Charleston is the people. I am a firm believer that the people make the place. Whether it is in your workplace, your church, your neighborhood, or your city, and this holds true for our community. Charlestonians have a strong sense of pride about where we live that makes our city such a special place.
