The Oscars of Real Estate

The Academy Awards, more popularly known as the Oscars, are awards for artistic and technical merit in the film industry. Each year, they honor and highlight the best of the best in the film industry. I don’t usually watch the Oscars, but this year I tuned in for the show.

It is truly amazing to see all of the different aspects that go into making a great film. I must admit that many times with the more unique award categories, I wasn’t even sure what it meant the nominees or winner did for the film. It seemed that the same films were nominated for multiple awards in many categories, showing how great people in different fields came together to achieve something truly special in film.

This “coming together” that occurs to create a masterpiece film also has to happen in the way we approach real estate to truly give our clients the best experience. There is little doubt that at William Means Real Estate, the award for Best Actor or Actress would go to our agents – they are the true stars of our firm. Their knowledge, experience, guidance and professionalism are above all others in the industry. However, other aspects of the home buying and selling process need to shine as well.

When it comes to marketing a home, the agent isn’t and shouldn’t be the expert. The Oscar for Best Production Design would go to our Marketing Department. William Means has an expert team with education in marketing and English, and training in graphic design, social media and state-of-the-art promotion tactics. Our team produces thoughtful copy, designs the best brochures, crafts engaging advertisements and maintains a strong social media following. Additionally, we work with a leading digital content company allowing us to maximize the top internet exposure of our listings. And Best Cinematography, you ask? Our listings are photographed and filmed by incredible photography professionals in Charleston, capturing homes in the best light to get them sold quickly.

On the technical side, transactions continue to be more contractually complicated when managing them from contract to the closing table. Our agents are extremely knowledgeable, and they also gain the additional resource of a Sales Director (that would be me). I do not list or sell property which means I am always available to guide agents during the real estate process if the need arises. If we require further assistance, we utilize our attorney resources to ensure our clients are receiving the best representation possible. We combine all of this with being affiliated with the largest auction house in the world, Christie’s and their luxury real estate firm, Christie’s International Real Estate. All of these elements come together to make William Means Real Estate a leading luxury firm in Charleston.

William Means asks our agents to be the best the agents in Charleston; not the best writers, designers, photographers or lone problem solvers. While more agents and agencies are moving away from utilizing professional resources, William Means still believes that to win the client’s award as the best in the industry, it takes experts every step of the way.
