Lowcountry Living – Charleston May Events

It’s hard to believe that May is right around the corner but we are excited for the wonderful events this month that are planned throughout the city. From Spoleto to the Greek Festival, there is something for everyone. Comment below about which events you will be attending!

May 4 – Gibbes Annual Street Party – Celebrating the beautifully renovated Gibbes Museum, this year extraordinary chefs will draw their inspiration from the treasured art objects in the Gibbes collection.

May 5 – Charleston Gallery Association Artwalk – Start at any of  the downtown galleries and stroll through the historical streets of Charleston. Over 40 galleries participate from 5 – 8pm serving refreshments and many of the artist will be in attendance.

March 12-14 – Charleston Greek Festival – The Charleston Greek Fest is a decades-old tradition of culture and entertainment held each year on Mother’s Day weekend in May. Join in a unique celebration of life, music, legendary food, and friendship!

May 13 – Green & Lean 5K Run/Walk – The race begins 8:30 am at Brittlebank Park and follows a scenic route around Hampton Park, past the Citadel, and ends back at the park. This is a family event and everyone is welcome.

May 20 – Charleston Beer Garden- Known as Charleston’s largest pop-up beer garden, The Grove at Patriots Point will be transformed overnight into an oasis for craft beer lovers. The festival features an epic line-up of craft brews, beer games, homebrewers, live music and more!

May 26 – June 11 – Spoleto Festival USA – For 17 days and nights each spring, Spoleto Festival USA fills Charleston’s historic theaters, churches, and outdoor spaces with performances by renowned artists and emerging performers.

May 29 – June 9 – Grace Church Tea Room & Gift Shop – Since it began in 1992, the Tea Room has given away more than $800,000 in grants to local outreach organizations in the Lowcountry.  Lunch is served Monday through Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
