Home for the Holidays – A Look Back At 2021

It is hard to believe that we are nearing the end of 2021.  It has been a whirlwind of a year with continued uncertainty surrounding the global pandemic.  The real estate market in Charleston continued with a meteoric rise in sales and price increases as clients created massive demand with a limited inventory of homes for sale.

William Means agents were able to meet many new clients with stories of their needs, hopes and desires of finding a home in Charleston. The typical charms of the Lowcountry lifestyle drew newcomers to the history, beauty, beaches and cuisine of our fair city.  Clients that moved from metro areas like New York, Atlanta, California and Chicago also cited additional desires.  Some of these centered around situations that arose from the pandemic.

I am not sure how many of us were aware prior to the pandemic of a company called Zoom, and the power to have people meet despite physically being in all different locations.  From this sprouted the idea that someone could do their job more efficiently from anywhere – not just at a business office. Our clients expressed to us new requirements for home offices, places for loved ones to stay in the home and be close.  No one ever would have thought that something like this would put our loved ones at risk, simply from being in the same room with them.  Our clients put an emphasis on outdoor space, to breathe the fresh air and enjoy the amazing year-round Charleston climate.

William Means agents assisted these new clients to find homes that met these newfound wants and needs amid a crazy real estate storm.  The market has been difficult, but our agents persevered to help both Buyers and Sellers achieve their goals.

Fortunately, as we come to a time of thanks and celebration for the holidays many will be able to gather again.  I will be seeing my parents for the first time in nearly two years, and they will be seeing big changes in their eight-year-old grandson.  Many of our clients will be doing the same and some in new places they now call “home.”  We are always thankful for all our clients who trust us with helping them make big decisions and hope they find happiness in being “home for the holidays.”
