Recently I went on vacation to Mexico and stayed at a beautiful resort. It was set along the beach with clear blue, warm water and stunning views. When you’re on vacation, it is always interesting to talk to fellow vacationers as they often lament that they will soon be leaving the beautiful setting to head home.
On this trip, I began talking to some people and asked where they were from – to my surprise, they said Charleston. We then realized that we lived just a few miles apart and had multiple acquaintances in common. We talked about enjoying our time in Mexico, but then paused and talked about how fortunate we were to reside in Charleston year-round. We both realized how lucky we were to be leaving vacation to return home to a place that others choose as a vacation destination.
It is easy to take for granted living in such an amazing place like Charleston. We have the ability to go to the beach, get out on the water, walk around historic downtown, eat at world-renowned restaurants, walk or bike over an iconic bridge and enjoy beautiful weather. The list really could go on and on. Charleston is truly an amazing place to live, work and play.
