The nearly water-locked former degaussing station-turned-luxury residence and adjacent guest house at 2 Concord St. boast about 80 solar panels between them covering more than 700 square feet .
That by itself would be “green” worthy. Yet the array of sun-ray collectors are merely a sample of the environmentally friendly features at the estate-like downtown property. Copper roofs are coated with zinc for a long-lasting, light-colored looks; water that’s heated and cooled within underground pipes helps control the indoor air temperature; and reclaimed wood, stone and bricks are milled or mixed to craft floors, counter tops and interior walls.
