5 Spring Cleaning Tips To Get Your House Ready To List

◂ Back to Posts

The Spring season has arrived and now is the perfect opportunity to organize, declutter and deep clean. Especially if you’re thinking of selling, spring cleaning is a great step to get your house ready to put on the market. Follow these spring cleaning tips to give your home a refresh.

Power Wash Your Home’s Exterior. As we all know, first impressions are everything and the exterior of your home is the first thing buyers will see. By pressure washing your home, windows, doors, porch and sidewalk you can brighten up the exterior in just a short time. And with Charleston’s wonderful Spring weather, it’s the perfect season to work outdoors.

Organize the Kitchen. The kitchen is often the heart of the home and is one of the best places to begin your Spring cleaning. Consider transferring pantry items to storage containers for a cleaner look, minimize clutter and appliances on countertops, and clean and organize your kitchen cabinets.

Add a Fresh Coat of Paint. Adding a fresh coat of paint to your home can really spruce up the interior of your home. We recommend starting with the living area. For maximum appeal, consider a neutral tone like a light grey, white or beige to attract potential buyers. If you are not ready to paint a whole room just yet, painting doors, window frames and baseboards can also be a rewarding update.

Declutter Your Living Area. Organizing your living area creates a polished, stream-lined look that will help potential buyers be able to picture their own belongings in the space. Start by hiding any electronic cords, organize the console table or book shelf with decorative storage bins and keep throw pillows and blankets to a minimum. Take this time to create an open and airy space that buyers so often desire.

Spruce Up Your Outdoor Living Space. ‘Tis the season to liven up your outdoor dining and entertaining areas. With nearly year-round opportunities to be outside and with an increased demand for outdoor living space, now is your chance to finish the deck, build the fire-pit and invest in that updated outdoor furniture.

We hope you enjoy the wonderful spring weather in Charleston!
