Kenton Selvey

Known for being a passionate seller, relentless negotiator and innovative marketer, Kenton is focused on being his clients’ champion when it comes to the sale or purchase of their Charleston home. He is a steady guide and sounding board through the transaction process and provides his clients with unparalleled market data and trend analysis to allow them to make informed decisions.

Kenton’s skills have been honed throughout his 25-year career building and marketing global media and iconic luxury fashion brands. For his listings, he believes in the power of building a “story” for each home. His work frequently involves collaboration with photographers, stagers, digital marketing consultants and floor plan specialists – setting the tone and direction of sales and marketing strategies that innovate and succeed.

Originally from a small town in the Midwest, Kenton grew up dreaming of “seeing the world.” Eventually his career led him to live in Washington, D.C. and New York while working in more than 100 countries worldwide. His wife’s deep family roots in South Carolina led them to Charleston where they currently reside on Daniel Island along with their two children.

Outside of work Kenton enjoys playing tennis and golf, boating, fishing, and taking his family to Charleston’s many beautiful beaches. He is an active member of his church, the Preservation Society of Charleston, the Daniel Island Club, the Lowcountry Autism Foundation, and a frequent attendee of Charleston Fashion Week.

Testimonials

  • I met Kenton last fall before I moved to Charleston. Instantaneously, I felt at ease and knew I was in excellent hands and had found the right Realtor. Moving across the country is quite an ordeal for anyone...but with his help and guidance, I found the home I really wanted. Kenton listens and pays great attention to detail. He is not there just for "the sale." I am now a truly happy new homeowner and can't recommend him enough. Thank you Kenton!

What are your favorite features of homes and why?

I love the front porches and piazzas that we see in various forms throughout Charleston. While originally intended to take advantage of the local breezes during the heat of summer – today this architectural detail exemplifies the friendliness and openness of the Charleston community - providing a place where greetings turn strangers into friends, and where neighbors come and go like family.

What do you think sets you apart as an agent?

My work in real estate is built on relationships. This starts with listening, asking the right questions, understanding what’s important to the client, and then partnering with them to achieve their goals. When working with buyers - I love the thrill of the hunt to find the perfect home for them. I truly enjoy introducing my clients to new neighborhoods and Charleston for those relocating, providing local expertise of the market and housing inventory, and hitting the pavement to tour homes. I’m with my clients every step of the way – from negotiating an offer through to closing day and beyond. When working with sellers – I aim to achieve their goals by building a marketing strategy that takes advantage of the key selling points of their home – all tied to cutting edge marketing tactics that present their home in its best light in front of a targeted group of buyers.

What is your favorite restaurant in Charleston and why?

I love FIG and The Ordinary - in my opinion the best seafood restaurants in Charleston. Both are run by Mike Lata who has deep ties to the local fishing community, has helped champion sustainable fishing practices, and frequently brings new species of fish to the table.
