Meet Farrah Follmann

Farrah Follmann was raised in Dallas, Texas and has a degree in international business and finance from Texas A & M. Fluent in German and Italian, she lived in Italy for twelve years becoming an associate with the International Commercial Real Estate Agency, Cushman & Wakefield. As one of their top office property brokers in Milan, she represented a wide range of Multi-National corporations in one of Europe’s most complex real estate environments.
With her husband, the English writer Harry Farthing, Farrah moved to Charleston in 2010 in order to raise their two daughters and pursue her true real estate passion, luxury residential property. After a period spent managing sales transactions in order to re-establish her knowledge of both the American real estate systems and the competitive Lowcountry property markets, she now offers her skills and expertise as an active residential broker.

What do you think sets you apart as an agent?
Real estate is my passion. Born into a real estate family, I was brought up visiting my parent’s and my aunt’s projects. Ever since, I have loved exploring interesting houses and imagining how I might live in them or improve them! As soon as I graduated from college, I moved abroad to see the world and start my property career. In the last 17 years, I’ve excelled in both commercial and residential real estate both in Italy and here in the United States. In Milan, I represented Credit Suisse, AIG, Merrill Lynch, Citigroup, Google, Discovery Channel, Nestlé and Oakley to name a few. Working with such companies demanded the highest levels of professionalism, budgetary awareness and time management, skills that now benefit my residential clients. I consider myself a good listener, an original thinker and a problem solver; qualities that I combine with my experience to help my clients achieve their goals and create lasting relationships.
What are your favorite features of homes and why?
The features I get most excited about are a gracious foyer, stand-out design details like high ceilings and exposed beams or beautiful windows that give great light or an incredible view. These qualities can be found in many Charleston properties, alongside another favorite of mine which is mature landscaping. Our love for live oak trees, magnolias and colorful Southern blooms is well known. I particularly love to find an original but effective floor plan with these ingredients that set it apart and make it a fantastic place to live.
Describe a favorite Saturday afternoon in Charleston.
In the Spring, I love a long walk with my family on the beautiful streets South of Broad. It is so fragrant to stroll on the cobblestones while the jasmine and honeysuckle are in bloom. I usually take my family to an art gallery and listen to their impressions of what they see in the paintings and what appeals to them. We then finish it off with an ice cream by the pineapple fountain or a Shirley Temple at one of our favorite spots.
