Jane Dowd

Jane Dowd was born and raised in Augusta, Georgia, but developed a deep love and appreciation for Charleston at a young age. As a child, she spent summers with her family on Isle of Palms and Kiawah Island. Eventually, Jane returned to the Holy City where she earned a degree in Business Administration from the College of Charleston. She has been a licensed Realtor since 2005 and been named a Realtor of Distinction on multiple occasions.

Jane enjoys introducing her clients to the beautiful communities around the Lowcountry, from historic downtown to West Ashley, Mount Pleasant and beyond. She recognizes that many new and long-term residents enjoy the Lowcountry lifestyle yet must travel for work outside of the Charleston area. Jane relates to these clients on a personal level as her husband travels frequently for work out of New York City. She has assisted many out-of-town clients relocating to Charleston and works diligently to make this transition as smooth as possible. Jane prides herself on being a valuable resource for both buyers and sellers looking to find their niche in this city that she loves to call home.

Jane and her husband have two children and reside in The Crescent, a historic neighborhood in West Ashley just minutes from downtown Charleston. In her free time, she enjoys playing tennis and relaxing at her creek-front home away from home on Edisto Island.

Testimonials

  • You did it! Thank you for all you did to bring the closing together for William and Charles’s condo. I know it was a lot of headache and trouble! You were a great advocate for us, and we all really appreciate it. Thank you , too, for helping us with details like electricity, gates codes, etc. I know William is still working on some of the transition details. We also appreciate your help with the cleaning and locks referrals. It has been such a relief being able to rely on you and your expertise on matters we are clueless about. We look forward to coming down to Charleston to get started on the improvements. Thank you again so much!!

  • John and I want to thank you for helping us find a home in Charleston. Do you realize that we bought the first house you showed us! True testament to an agent who knows what she's doing. As an out of state buyer with a limited amount of time to look and purchase, you trimmed our very long list to those homes that fit our personalities and needs. We love our vacation home on Queen Street so much that we are seriously considering spending the winter months there in the near future. Our experience was so positive that we look forward to purchasing a bigger and better home with you as our agent!

  • It has truly been a pleasure to work with you. Thank you so much for all of your assistance. Who knows, maybe in a couple of years I'll be looking to buy another place. If so or whenever I am looking to sell this one, I will know who to call. Thanks again for your top-notch service.

  • We have had the pleasure of working with Jane on several projects. Her advice and patient counsel proved invaluable. Jane's deep knowledge of the Lowcountry and her extensive personal relationships were instrumental to a successful outcome. In addition, being from outside the area she made the process simple and seamless. Plus she is a joy to work with and we would definitely work with her again!

  • We had a great experience working with Jane on the sale of our town home at Folly Beach. Her market expertise helped guide us through the process and helped us make decisions that ended up being spot on. We loved Jane's direct approach and ability to focus on what needed to be focused on to help us sell our property. She was willing to help us out a couple of times when we were in a bind and her extra efforts made everything more manageable, as we live a few hours away. We will definitely use Jane again if we have real estate needs in the Charleston area!
    - Shelley and Hank Butler

  • I wanted to reiterate our appreciation for Jane's help. Mike and I have sold two homes that we had lived in and loved in the past five years. First, was our Chevy Chase, Maryland home of 45 years and now Johnson Road, our family home of 56 years. In both cases our efforts were greatly and invaluably helped by smart, capable agents. Thank you Jane for being that agent in Charleston.

  • We were thrilled with Jane and all the work she did for us! She is bright, experienced, knowledgeable and such a pleasure to work with. She provided everything promised to us in a smooth and timely fashion, not to mention the fact that she had a full-price, “clean” contract 24 hours after the listing! I will definitely recommend William Means and Jane to our friends and family.

  • I want to thank you for helping me sell 570 W Elizabeth Lane. Your in-depth knowledge of the Charleston real estate market certainly helped with establishing the asking price and negotiating the final selling price. The contacts you have with several of the sub-contractors the we needed to complete some of the pre-buy items saved me a great deal of time. Thank you again for handling this transaction very professionally, I enjoyed working with you and would recommend you to any of my friends that need real estate help.
    - Dr. James Andrews

  • Jane went far beyond expectations to deliver a smooth buying process. We were first-time homebuyers coming from out of state with little knowledge of the area. Jane focused on getting us up to speed on the different neighborhoods and allowed us space to explore on our own in order to shorten our list. Once we went under contract on a house, Jane acted extremely quickly, connecting us to all of the right people to have a smooth closing process. I would highly recommend Jane to anyone!
    - Will and Sarah Pearson

  • Jane is excellent! She is very knowledgeable and has many connections. She was very patient with us and helped us find the right house. Highly recommended!
