Paula Yorke

With thirteen personal moves under my belt, I’m familiar with the buying and selling process firsthand. The renovation of my own homes has aided me in assisting others in their home searches. These experiences enable me to offer suggestions that can turn a house my clients really like, into the dream home they’ve been seeking.

A home is typically a person’s largest investment. It takes careful consideration from both a lifestyle and financial viewpoint. In representing my clients, I feel an obligation to listen to their wants and needs and to make sure the buying or selling process is a positive experience.

I’ve been in the real estate business for more than 35 years. In Charlotte, NC and now in Charleston where I live in the Old Village with my husband and our pug, Betty Lou. Since becoming a broker in Charleston, I’ve enjoyed learning about the critical process and procedure of restoring historic homes that are so important to this city.

I value my role as an “ambassador” of the prettiest city in the country and my associations with the Gibbes Museum of Art and the Board of HEART, an inclusive arts community. I also write a monthly newsletter with featured homes and news on restaurants, shopping and local events.

Testimonials

  • We met Paula Yorke by accident when we walked into the William Means office in I'On and what a lucky day that was! We did not buy in I'On but Paula found us the perfect home. She listened to both my husband and myself and found the land Bob wanted and the screened porch I wanted. She is patient and professional. We recommend her highly.‬ ‪Thanks Paula! ‬‬

  • My family and I were thinking of relocating from the DC area to Charleston and were lucky enough to find Paula Yorke online. After meeting it was as if we were all one of her dear friends. My husband and I enjoyed all the insight Paula had about the Mount Pleasant area and which neighborhoods would best meet our needs. My son especially took to 'Ms. Pollen' and they were immediate buddies. Paula was able to show us several homes the day we were in town and also made time to drive us around the area. It was a whirlwind of a day but we couldn't have asked for a nicer and better informed agent. With Paula's help we purchased a home on that trip and now reside in Mount Pleasant.

  • I am very pleased to tell you that my real estate experience with Paula Yorke was an absolute delight! I purchased two homes from her recently. One located in downtown Charleston for my daughter & one on the Intracostal at Isle of Palms for me. Two completely different vibes. Paula listened carefully to our needs & wants for our future homes. This was very appreciated as time wasn't wasted on viewing properties that wouldn't ultimately fit our needs. If a question arose that she had no answer for she was on it immediately & brought back the answer quickly! To my liking, she's direct in her business sense. She gets the "job" done. She's also a ray of sunshine & a delight to be around. She'll always be our "go to" realtor & we are happy to have her as a new friend. This brief statement comes with the highest regard for Paula & her strong work ethic.

  • Without Paula as our agent we would not now be in our new home in area we love. Her guidance and assistance were key in purchase and successful retirement relocation. She is very knowledgable, really great to work with and has become good friend. Her excellent contacts were invaluable in the buying process and she became directly involved when appropriate. For example, she determined retroactive city permits were required for an addition and took lead to ensure they were obtained. We are recommending Paula to friends who are considering moving to the Mount Pleasant area. Also, be sure to review her newsletters which include great restaurant reviews (we are trying all) as well as real estate news.

  • We are so thankful for friends who recommended Paula Yorke to us when we were looking for a house in the Charleston area. Since we live out of town and had limited time we were thankful that Paula was so organized and had narrowed the search based on our criteria. This led to a very productive house hunting visit. By the end of our trip we found our perfect second home that we enjoy today! We would highly recommend Paula as she not only found our home but she also coordinated the inspection, repairs and closing.

Favorite restaurant in Charleston and why?

Without a doubt, FIG! Mike Latta is a genius with ingredients. FIG is the standard by which I judge any restaurant I dine at.

What is one thing you think most people don’t realize when they buy real estate?

That just about everything about a home can be changed! Look at houses with their potential in mind. A lot of people might know that, but have trouble doing it. Sometimes it's a small change that makes all the difference!

What do you enjoy most about being a William Means Agent?

I like how we work as a team. We share information readily with each other. Whether it's a new house that's coming on the market or a reference for a roofer, we help each other out. I also really like that we're a luxury firm and it's not about just selling expensive homes, it's about giving excellent service.
