Martha Freshley

Martha Freshley is known for personal service. She listens carefully and searches for the right property that suites her clients’ needs and values. She also has extensive experience relocating families to the Charleston area and has sold from Mount Pleasant to Edisto. When you list your home with Martha, she forms a custom “selling plan” that covers everything from marketing down to staging your home to sell. Accentuating the positive aspects of any home is truly Martha’s specialty.

Originally from Georgia, Martha grew up working for her family’s jewelry store and visiting the beaches of South Carolina. She often wondered why she ever had to go home, so in 2005 she permanently relocated and is now settled in the Old Village. She currently resides with her husband and four children. She enjoys playing bridge, reading, walking, gardening, and tennis. She is also an active member of St. Philips Church and the ECW, the National Society of Colonial Dames, and a sustaining member of the Junior League of Charleston.

Testimonials

  • We recently had the pleasure of working with Martha Freshley when we purchased a property in I'On. I am writing to express our highest compliment for the terrific job she performed. Martha was able to make the real estate transaction come together very quickly. That said, we have dealt with a number of real estate agents in the last few years, both as a buyer and a seller. None of these agents came anywhere close to fully understanding how to treat a customer the way Martha treated us.

  • Martha was extraordinary to work with. She provided us with multiple listings to review that fit our criteria. We were able to easily identify several properties without leaving our home. She set up several appointments to visit and with one afternoon we were ready to make an offer. The entire process was so easy with Martha's guidance and knowledge of the area. Several months later she even helped us with a situation involving the warranty company we could not resolve. We would use Martha again for our real estate needs and highly recommend her to others.

  • Martha had all the professional contacts we needed for a smooth purchase and closing. Martha used her banking connections to find a loan through a local bank that allowed immediate closing and avoidance of a short-tem rental. This was huge to us. It prevented the disruption and expense of us moving twice, once into a rental and then later into our purchased home, and also allowed us to make timely repairs before beginning our new jobs. The peace of mind that Martha gave us was invaluable and made our experience the best it could be.

  • When we decided to relocate, we really looked for the right professional to inform and advise us. Martha demonstrated a deep knowledge of neighborhoods, builders, environmental issues, and real estate valuations. She was patient, asked questions, and provided valuable information to assist us in our decision-making. She didn’t try to sell us a house, she helped us find a home. We feel extremely fortunate to have had Martha as our partner throughout the process. She was wonderful to work with!

  • What an incredible experience! Martha personally attended each showing and reported feedback ASAP. Our home sold within one week of listing. Ratifying the contract was made easy and simple. Martha will be selling another property for us in 2020! Thank you Martha Freshley!

  • My wife and I were searching for a home in the Charleston area due to our upcoming move from out of state for work. We were referred to Martha, who was able to tailor our showings to a list of priorities we provided and efficiently guided us through a short weekend we had to visit the area. When we returned several months later, she had used the previous experience to further refine our search and we ultimately put an offer in on a home that met the exact criteria that were important to us. From the time we went under contract to closing, she made us feel comfortable with every choice we were making, which was especially appreciated as we were first-time homebuyers. Now that we have closed, she has made herself continually available to assist us prior to our arrival in town, providing guidance on recommended companies to work with given her local knowledge and experience. We are grateful for her friendship and would recommend her for any family looking to relocate to the Lowcountry!

  • Martha was absolutely terrific in every respect as we went through the process of buying and selling. Her tenacity, responsiveness, problem-solving, and negotiating skills are all exceptional. She was helpful, supportive and her efforts made the whole process pleasant and so much smoother than it would have otherwise been. We could not be happier, and although we hope to be in our new house for a long time, she will be our only call if we ever need anything else.

  • Martha worked tirelessly to find just the perfect home for us as we relocated from Atlanta. She was more than flexible with her time as we could only visit homes on the weekend. Once we found the right house she made sure we obtained the best deal possible. She is totally connected to the Charleston market and is a great resource for everything from real estate to schools and fun events!

Describe a favorite Saturday afternoon in Charleston.

My favorite way to spend a Sat is to go to the farmers market on Marion Square. The variety of vendors is extensive and so much fun to explore.

What do you think sets you apart as an agent?

There are many good realtors in the Charleston area, but my experience and negotiating skills are an asset to both buyers and sellers. I have enjoyed helping people relocate to the Charleston area for many years. My widespread local knowledge and network of top shelf professionals enable me to provide solutions for clients when situations arise in the real estate transaction.

Do you have a real estate transaction that you feel you helped save and how did you help?

An obstetrician once told me that every single baby he helped bring into the world was special and unique. I feel the same way about every real estate transaction. There are always issues to address in every transaction and I have a 100% track record of finding solutions.
