Point-of-sale compromise on hold

On January 21st, the S.C. Association of Realtors asked for more time to review the compromise.  Association members were concerned that the legislation did not match up with compromise discussions.    The delay of the debate, makes the fate of this deal unknown. Point-of-Sale Reassessment Legislation

According to Drew Grossklaus, East Cooper Broker-in-Charge, “This new compromise is a welcoming sight to both commercial real estate, second home and investment properties. It is important that we look at the stimulus this package will invite versus the lost tax money. Giving a break to commercial properties creates more business and allows owners of multiple unit commercial property to pass on savings to possible tenants. This all helps to create jobs, sales tax revenue, and give small business a better opportunity to succeed.”

Charleston Region Home Sales up 30% from 2008

The Charleston Trident Association of Realtors has good news to report from December 2009. According to CTAR, December homes sales are up 30% compared to 2008. The area has also seen a 2% increase in the median transaction price while inventory has decreased by 5%.

Dock Street Theatre Renovations Complete for Spoleto 2010

Dock Street Theatre will reopen in May 2010, just in time for Spoleto! This historic theatre, better know as the first building designed for theatrical use in the Americas, opened in 1736 with the play “The Recruiting Officer”.
